MyFreeTracking Setup for SmartPhones
(Note about Q-Phones: You must make sure you have the latest firmware from
Motorola on your Q-phone before using our service. Use the following hyperlink
to learn how to upgrade your phone online. There is no charge for the upgrade.)

Step 1. Setup Bluetooth GPS
receiver first. (Non Q-phone GPS Receiver Setup. Scroll down for Q-Phone
GPS Setup)

If you do not have a Bluetooth GPS receiver, you will need one in order to
proceed. You can purchase one
online at BuyGPSNow.com. We prefer
the Holux
236 slim..
When you have received your GPS receiver, you may continue with the setup.
-
Turn on Bluetooth GPS receiver, and place near a window or location with a good
view of the sky.
Do not get further than 10 feet from the GPS receiver with the handset during
the setup process.

On the SmartPhone, click on the red hang-up button to clear all programs from
the desktop.

Click the Start option on the SmartPhone.
-
Scroll to Settings, some SmartPhones require you to click on the “More” menu
option to see more Icons.
Some you can just down arrow though all of the icons.

Click the OK center button on your SmartPhone.
-
Scroll down to Connections, and select.
-
Select Bluetooth.
-
Make sure 'Turn On Bluetooth' is checked.
-
Select Menu, then select Devices. (Note: If there is already a GPS
Paired, then you will probably need to delete that device, and search for the
one you have with you.)

Select Add new device…
It will begin searching for your Bluetooth GPS receiver.

When you have identified your receiver in the list, select it.
-
Enter your passcode for the device. (Note:
For most Bluetooth receivers, this code will be 0000.
If that does not work, consult the manual that came with your hardware for the
passcode.)

Click next.
It should tell you that the Smartphone has connected to your GPS receiver.

Click Next, and you should be on the Services Screen.
Check the
Serial
Port
check box.

Check Done.
-
From this screen, use the 'Back' button on your Smartphone to return to the
Bluetooth screen.
You will be in the right place when you see the 'Turn on Bluetooth' check box.

Select Menu.
-
Select Com Ports.
-
Select Menu again.
-
Select New Outgoing Port.
-
Choose your GPS receiver from the list, and click Select
-
Choose a Com port for this connection.
For BlackJack, try using Com6 first.
For all others you can try Com6 or any other available port.
If a message comes back that the 'Com Port Could Not Be Created', then
select another
Com
Port.
Make a note of this, as you will need it to complete the setup.

Uncheck Secure Connection.

Click Done, and keep clicking Done until the desktop appears.

Your GPS device is ready to be used with MyFreeTracking software, let’s proceed
to installation and setup of the application on your handset.
(Q-Phone
GPS Receiver Setup)
Before beginning, make sure the Bluetooth GPS receiver is on, and near
a window with a clear view of the sky.
1. Click on the red hang up button on the Q-Phone.
2. Click on the 'Start' menu option.
3. Scroll down and highlight the Bluetooth folder, and then click the chrome
silver button in the middle of the selector control.
4. Turn Bluetooth on in the 'Status:' combination box.
5. Click 'Done'.
6. Click 'Settings'.
7. Click 'Menu'.
8. Click 'Paired Devices'.
9. Click 'Add'.
10. It will now begin searching for devices.
11. Select your GPS receiver from the list.
12. Click 'Select'.
13. Enter the passkey for your GPS receiver. The passkey for most GPS receivers
is '0000'. If this is not your passkey, enter the one that is in the
documentation for your GPS receiver.
14. Click 'Done'.
15. Click the left arrow (Back) button to the left of the red hang up button.
16. Click 'Done'.
17. Click 'Done' again.
Your GPS receiver should be ready to use with the Smartphone or PPC tracking
application.
Step
2. Setup Smartphone

On
your smartphone handset click the red hangup button to clear the desktop of all
running applications, and then select and launch Internet Explorer.

Click on Menu.
-
Click on Address Bar.
-
Clear Address bar of all text except for http://
-
To the right of http:// type myfreetracking.com/appdl.aspx, (the address bar
shoud read http://myfreetracking.com/appdl.aspx
and click Go. (Note: you may want to save this as a favorite, so that you can
easily install software updates.)

If the web page with the hyperlink “Click to Download Tracking Application”
does no appear, make sure your data connection is working by trying to open
google.com. If it can’t open
Google’s web page, then you are not connected to the Internet.
You must be connected to the Internet to continue, and you must have an
Internet data plan to use our service.
If you don’t have one, then you must acquire one, and get it operational before
continuing.

Select the “Click to Download Tracking Application”, and click OK.
The application should ask the question “Download the … KB file
‘TrackInstall.CAB’?

Click Yes.
-
It may ask you if you want to replace the old one.
If you are performing an update, then click yes.
-
It will then download the file to your Smartphone.
-
It will ask you to confirm that you wish to install the application from an
unknown publisher.
Click Yes.

After the install is complete,
click Done.
-
Click the red Hang-up button on the Smartphone to clear all applications off of
the desktop.

Click Start Menu button.
-
Scroll to the Track Icon. (Looks like a turning road with a green triangle on
it.)

Select Track Icon and launch the application.

When the application comes up, it will promt you for your Setup PIN code. This
PIN code is sent to you in the e-mail response validating your account.
Enter your PIN code and the other information the setup help screens guide you
through.

Your application should come up and begin getting the map of your current
location. If the smartphone still has the No GPS message after 1 minute,
then either your GPS is not paired properly or your GPS receiver does not have
a clear view of the sky, and has not yet acquired its position. If you go
outside with the GPS, and after 5 minutes or so the message No GPS is still
visible, then you probably have a GPS pairing issue. You can e-mail us

any questions you may have. Someone should call or e-mail you back fairly
soon to help you get setup.

Step 3. Login
to the MyFreeTracking.com Website

Launch Internet Explorer.
-
Type MyFreeTracking.com in the Address Bar.

Click on Login.
-
Enter your E-mail address as entered during signup for your User Name.

Enter your password.
-
When you have successfully logged in, you should see a map, with your current
position on the website screen.

If you want the maps to update automatically, select your desired refresh rate
from the drop down list.

You can now explore all of the features of the site.
