Here is an example of how to download and install the Track software for your smartphone.

1.   Click the red hangup button and clear the screen to the desktop.  Then click the 'Start' menu option.

2. Scroll to and highlight the Internet Explorer icon.  Then, click the 'OK' center button.

3. Select the 'Menu' option, then select and click 'OK' when you have the 'Address Bar' menu option selected.

4. Clear the address bar until all you see is http://

5. Type in myfreetracking.com/setup

6. After loading you should see with the hyperlinks 'Complete Install' and 'Software Update'.  If you don't, then you need to make sure your phone radio is on, and that you have an Internet data plan with your phone.  Select the 'Complete Install' hyperlink, and click the 'OK' center button.

7. Click the 'Yes' menu option when asked "Download the ??? KB file 'TrackInstall.CAB?" (the ??? just means whatever size is displayed on your screen.  It may not be 509 KB).

8. If you are installing for a second time, it will ask you if you want to replace the existing file.  It does not hurt to re-install the application.  It does, however, overwrite your application settings.  If you are re-installing to take advantage of a new feature, or to upgrade your software, use the 'Software Update' hyperlink.  Upgrading will not erase your stored settings in the application.

9. You may see that the file being downloaded seems bigger than the file size expected.  This is a quirk of the OS that has no impact on the install.  Just ignore it.

10. The screen below may reappear for a moment.

11. You will be asked to confirm that you want to install the application, since it is from an unknown publisher.  Click the 'Yes' menu option.  Clicking yes will allow our software to install, otherwise you will not be able to complete the setup.

12. If you had installed the software before, you will be alerted that the old application will be removed in order to install the new one.  Click the 'OK' menu option.

13. You should see the screen below during installation.

14. When it is done, you will get a confirmation screen like the one below.  Click the 'Done' menu option.

15. You will be back at Internet Explorer.  You may want to add this URL as a favorite.

16. Click the red hangup button to clear the screen to the desktop.

17. Click on the 'Start' menu option.

18. Use the center cursor wheel to scroll down until you see the 'Track' icon.  Highlight the 'Track' icon, and then click the 'OK' center button.

19. The application will begin booting.

20. Since this is your first time using the system after an install, you will be prompted for your Setup PIN code.  Your Setup PIN code is Label

21. Enter the PIN code (you will only have to do this the first time you setup the application.)

22. Select the com port that your GPS device is using.

23. If your screen is taller than it is wide, like for a Cingular 2125, or most Pocket PCs, then select the 'Check here if your screen is taller than it is wide' option.  Select your timezone, and whether or not it is daylight savings time.  Then, click the 'Next' menu option.

24. The application will finish loading.

25. Once it is fully loaded, you will see the 'Getting Map' screen.  If you see the 'No GPS' message for more than 30 seconds, then there is a problem with you GPS pairing, or the GPS is turned off, or it is too far away.  Your GPS receiver also needs to be near or directly in a widow to get a good view of the sky.  You should also try stepping outside.  After the GPS acquires its fix, you should see the current time where the 'No GPS' message was.  You should also see your position on a map.

26. If you just can't get the GPS to connect, you can still test whether or not the system is sending position updates to the website.  To do this you will need to put the smartphone in 'Demo' mode.

27. To put the application into 'Demo' mode select the 'Menu' option and the scroll up one to select 'System'.

28. Click the 'OK' center button.

29. Select the 'Demo Mode' menu item and click the 'OK' center button.

30. The system should give you a time, and the green triangle should change its angle like the screen below.

31. After 10 to 15 seconds, you should see a map on the smartphone.  If you continue to the website, you will see the same position on the web map as you see on the smartphone.  That means you are able to track.  If you are still having trouble with your GPS connection, please e-mail us at support@myfreetracking.com
